Lime Rock Park: Ferrari Challenge 2012
Between the car show infused rush of the summer and the fireside planning of winter, it's hard to believe an entire year has passed since I hit the upload button on the 2011 Ferrari Challenge video, the first of HittingRedline's videos. It achieved surprising success (a post to Jalopnik.com), and encouraged me to put more effort into the film side of this site. But although much has changed in the year since the first Ferrari Challenge video, I made it back to film again.
While the entire event is marketed as a race, the attractions are numerous and nestled everywhere around Lime Rock's gorgeous facility. Most of them, as it happens, are red. Despite this, several different- and multi-colored examples did show up, like the black 599 GTO - not to be confused with the red/black car parked just a few race trailers away - from Vermont (hopefully we will meet at some point), a pair of brand-new 458 Spiders (one dealer, one private) and a smattering of FFs in the corral. Vehicles not hailing from Modena included dozens of Porsches (a ducktail-equipped Carrera 2.7 being the most memorable), a BRZ and FR-S (although there were probably more), lots of S2000s, numerous M-cars, and lots of other stuff.
Oh, yeah - there was also a four-liter Ferrari 250 GTO worth more than the rest of the Ferrari paddock combined.
