Video

HittingRedline's films are its specialty. The examples you see here range from modern racing Ferraris to concours-quality muscle cars, and can contain anything in between. There are several different types, however - here are those categories:

  • Regular Videos: Car shows, racing events, and meets. Weekend events around New England fit into this category. In winter, of course, these aren't updated as much as the other categories.
  • Real Drivers: Interviews with vehicles' owners themselves. In this category, you can hear the stories that build and maintain these sports cars.
  • In Brief: Quick videos of a single car at shows, often without music.
  • Pure Sounds: Engine notes, pure and simple.
  • In Motion: No voices, just cars, music, and sounds.

Real Drivers: Subaru Legacy with Hand Controls

This film is a first for a number of reasons, including with the use of a camera crane and - most notably - a new editing program, Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5. Despite some hiccups acclimatizing to the Adobe editor, this film of Eric Rose's Subaru Legacy is an opportunity to learn about hand controls, a device that is rarely seen and is the topic of many misconceptions. Look forward to videos of other vehicles once the weather clears up.

Real Drivers: Subaru Impreza WRX STI

It's been a strange winter. Filming of a Jaguar in October was interrupted by snow, and the later filming of Mark Tashjian's E36 M3 was a great, warm day in November. But the weather during the shooting of this film, an interview with Paul Kelly about his Subaru STI, made some shots a lot foggier than I had anticipated. While it's not a winter wonderland, it's certainly a film I recommend you watch. Stay tuned for more updates to the Real Drivers series, including some with new film gear that's in the mail.

In Motion: E36 BMW 328i

This lightly-modified E36 belongs to a friend of mine, and over the weekend, I filmed it with a GoPro to test the car mount system. It works quite well, and eventually turned into a mini-videoshoot. I've got some other stuff on the way (though, with snow approaching, you never know), but for the time being, here's this video:

Real Drivers: BMW M3 (E36)

It may be difficult to find sports cars in November (especially here in already-snowy Vermont), but a few people are still driving them, like Rob Tobia and his Jaguar E-Types, and Mark Tashjian, with an E36 BMW M3. Mr. Tashjian was kind enough to give an interview and allow me to film his car, so here's the finished product. If you prefer it, the video is on Vimeo now.

Real Drivers: Jaguar E-Types (Series I and Series II)

Last Friday, despite the snow, I went to talk with long-time E-Type enthusiast Robert Tobia about his two Jaguars. His cars are astonishingly well-kept, especially the Series I roadster, though they are always a work in progress; while I was there, the Series II coupe was dismantled, awaiting the installation of a freshly-machined head for the 4.2-liter engine. It was great talking with Mr. Tobia, and he even provided a VHS of driving footage from that same car. Check out the full film below.

If you want the Real Drivers series to become a regular release, let me know in the comments.

Update: The video is now available on Vimeo. Go here to watch it. Read more about Real Drivers: Jaguar E-Types (Series I and Series II)

OktoberFAST 2011: The Video

It was a great day for photography at yesterday's OktoberFAST event, so be sure to check out the gallery at some point. I've already covered the basics in that post - the drive, the cars, the Z1's door trick - but for a more immersive experience, take a look at the video:

As usual, be sure to watch in HD for the best viewing experience! Read more about OktoberFAST 2011: The Video

Pure Sounds: Shelby Cobra Replica in Weston

Last weekend, I returned for the second time to the Vermont Country Store's Cruise in to Mildred's event, which saw the return of many of the vehicles from last time, as well as a few new ones. Among those new arrivals was this Cobra replica, which had recently been completed. If you're a classic car owner in the southern Vermont area, check out the next event, scheduled for October third in Weston, Vermont.

On Main Street: A video from the 45th-annual Bennington Classic Car Show

The gallery is already up, and, though the lighting wasn't so great at the Willow Park portion of the show, the event became film-worthy on Main Street when the owners parked their cars for a public show (complete with food and music) at around five o'clock. Enjoy the film!

End of the Season: A video of the final 2011 Hemmings Cruise-In

With the gallery already up, it's time for the video from the Cruise-In. I won't describe every rare, interesting, and spotless car one-by-one here, but take a look at the video to get a glimpse of the machinery on display last night outside Hemmings' 1960s-style gas station. Video: Classic Muscle at the Vermont Country Store

The Vermont Country Store's original shop, located in Weston, Vermont, is a store that so greatly represents the state. The latest addition to this traditional New England venue is the Mildred's Dairy Bar, which hosted an event for local classic car owners yesterday. Though it was the inaugural meet, a wide variety of cars were on scene, including a genuine Shelby Cobra 427, a 1930s Pontiac Sedan that is soon to become a Corvette-based hot rod, an occasionally track-driven C6, and a Shelby GT Convertible. This video shows just a few of those cars.
